Who We Are

Interfaith Winston-Salem is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.   We are an all-volunteer educational group that brings together members of many faith traditions – religious and non-religious – to gain a greater understanding of and respect for each other’s traditions.  As we better understand other traditions, we hope to develop a deeper appreciation for our own that will manifest itself in active goodwill to other individuals and to the community as a whole.

We offer traditional lectures and short-term classroom studies as well as creative special events and projects that enable us to learn by experiencing the other.

Our goal is to capitalize on the superior teaching resources of our universities and colleges, our talented clergy and spiritual leaders and other learned community residents and to offer programs at no cost to participants. When noted lecturers or special events require financial support we will request donations and seek support from foundations.

Once our programs and our structure become established we hope to share our experience with other communities that seek to address their growing interfaith diversity.  And, even longer term, we hope to develop an Interfaith Virtual University that provides quality academic video resources that can be downloaded for use by individuals and small groups at no charge.

In addition to donations in any amount, we need volunteers with experience and expertise in the following areas:

    a.  Bookkeeping or Accounting
    b.  Grant Writing or Fundraising
    c.  Database (Creation or Management)
    d.  Social Media (facebook, twitter, meetup, website, etc.)
    e.  Videographer and/or Photographer to film our activities
