Muslim Youth Aid Hunger Drive

Youth at the Annoor Islamic Center in Clemmons will take a unique approach to helping the Second Harvest Food Bank during Ramadan as part of the “Fast With Us So Others May Eat” program.

Under the direction of Mrs. Hanadi Rashad, the youth are selling bags of nonperishable foods to members of the mosque, who in turn will contribute them to the food bank.  The bags contain food items recommended by the food bank.

Annoor and two other area mosques, Community Mosque and Masjid al-Mu’Minun in Winston-Salem, are collaborating with Interfaith Winston-Salem, encouraging members of other traditions to “Fast With Us So Others May Eat” during Ramadan, mid-July through mid-August.  Participants are encouraged to fast according to their own traditions and to support the food bank by collecting nonperishable food items or making donations to the food bank’s BackPacks program.
