Rabbi Dr. Andrew V. Ettin and Nan Griswold have agreed to help Interfaith Winston-Salem honor the memory of Dr. Carlton Mitchell, a professor and spiritual leader who worked for interfaith cooperation for many years in the Winston-Salem area.  The goal is to organize an ongoing series of activities that build interfaith understanding and cooperation.

Salemtowne Retirement Community, where Dr. Mitchell lived for several years, is the lead sponsor.  Other sponsors will be invited to participate.

Rabbi Ettin is Professor Emeritus of English and Adjunct Professor in the School of Divinity at Wake Forest University.  He also is spiritual leader of Temple Israel in Salisbury.

Mrs. Griswold, who is active with many local nonprofit efforts, is the former executive director of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.
